Ateamo Whistle privacy policy

Last updated August 6, 2026

This policy describes how the Ateamo Whistle mobile and watch apps (“the app”) handle your information. The app is published by Ateamo, a DBA of Lone Star Media. Contact: privacy@ateamo.com.

What we collect

The app collects information needed to authenticate you, record official match data, and diagnose app problems:

  • Account information — your email address, display name, and account identifier as provided when you sign in.
  • Authentication token — a token issued by the Ateamo API after a successful sign-in.
  • Match data you create — schedule lookups, player check-in status, match events, scores, and referee notes.
  • Optional diagnostic and usage data — if you choose to share it, the app sends crash reports and basic app interaction analytics to help diagnose problems and improve reliability. This may include a device or installation identifier, app version, device model, operating-system version, screens viewed, feature interactions, and technical crash details.

When you enable diagnostic and usage sharing, you can separately choose whether those reports are linked to your Ateamo account identifier. If you decline account linking, analytics and crash reports are not tagged with your Ateamo user ID. You can change either choice at any time in the app's Settings.

The app does not use this information for advertising or cross-app tracking.

How information is stored

  • On your device: authentication tokens are stored using protected credential storage, including Apple Keychain on iOS and Android Keystore-backed encrypted preferences on Android. Upcoming assignments, active-match state, and pending offline writes may be cached locally so the app can recover from interruptions.
  • On Ateamo servers: account and match data are sent over HTTPS to the Ateamo API and stored in Ateamo's referee back-office systems.
  • On Firebase / Google systems: when diagnostic and usage sharing is enabled, analytics and crash reports may be processed and retained to diagnose crashes, reliability issues, and incorrect behavior.

Failed match writes may be queued locally and retried when the app is active and a network connection is available.

How information is shared

We do not sell your information and do not share it with advertisers. Information is shared only with:

  • Ateamo / your league, the intended recipient of match records.
  • Service providers needed to deliver and improve the app, including Apple App Store or Google Play, Ateamo API infrastructure, and Firebase / Google diagnostics services.

We require service providers that process information for the app to protect it consistently with this policy and applicable privacy law, and to use it only to provide their contracted services.

If you use a paired watch, match state and commands are exchanged between your phone and watch using Apple WatchConnectivity or the Google Wearable Data Layer.

Data retention and deletion

  • On-device account data is removed when you sign out. All remaining on-device data is removed when you uninstall the app or clear app storage.
  • Server-side match data is retained according to the rules of your league.
  • Diagnostic and usage data is retained only as long as reasonably necessary to investigate and improve app behavior. Disabling sharing stops future collection from that device but does not automatically delete reports already received.

To request deletion of your account or specific records, email privacy@ateamo.com from the address associated with your account. We will respond within 30 days.

How to delete your account

Children and youth referees

The app is an officiating tool for referees registered with their league. It is not directed to children under 13 and is not a general-audience or entertainment app. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.

Some leagues register youth referees under 18. For those users:

  • Accounts are created by the league, not in the app. The app can only sign in accounts that already exist in the league's Ateamo system. Where the law requires consent for processing a minor's information (for example COPPA in the United States, or the GDPR age-of-digital-consent rules in Europe), the league or club that registers the referee is responsible for obtaining it from a parent or guardian before the account is created.
  • We collect the same limited information as for adults — sign-in details and the match records the referee creates as part of officiating — and nothing more.
  • Optional diagnostics stay off unless explicitly enabled in the app's first-run privacy screen or in Settings. Analytics and crash reporting are never on by default, for any user.
  • No advertising. The app shows no ads, contains no advertising SDKs, and never sells information or shares it for marketing or cross-app tracking.

A parent or guardian of a referee under 18 may review, correct, or delete their child's information, or withdraw a previously given consent, by emailing privacy@ateamo.com; we will verify the relationship through the league and respond within 30 days. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under 13 (or under the applicable age of consent) without the required consent, we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

If we change how the app handles information, we will update this page and the “Last updated” date above. Material changes will be noted in release notes.
